Mr Dimitrios Mavrelos, MD, MRCOG

Mr Dimitrios Mavrelos is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Specialist in Reproductive Medicine. He leads the prestigious Reproductive Medicine Unit at University College London Hospital where he regularly consults on general fertility, recurrent miscarriage and IVF. He performs the full spectrum of minimal access surgery for reproductive medicine.

He studied medicine at the University of Oxford and Guy’s King’s St Thomas’ School of Medicine.  He completed his specialty and subspecialty training in London training with international experts in gynaecological ultrasound, minimal access surgery to improve fertility and in vitro fertilisation.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Mavrelos is an honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London and has published innovative scientific articles and book chapters on the diagnosis and management of endometriosis, the diagnosis and management of early pregnancy complications and the impact of gynaecological disorders on fertility.  He was awarded an MD from the University of London for his research work on the role of gynaecology ultrasound in the diagnosis and management of uterine fibroids.

He lectures nationally and internationally on these subjects and continues leading an active research programme on improving outcomes of IVF cycles.

At the Gynaecology Ultrasound Centre Mr Mavrelos is available for fertility/IVF scan and consultation, tubal patency testing (HyCoSy) and investigation of the cavity of the womb (3D SIS).

We were hugely impressed with Dimitri. He was recommended to us by an OBGYN friend after we had 2 unsuccessful attempts at IVF (privately) at the London Women's Clinic with another renowned fertility consultant. Dimitri was much better. I felt he was more thorough and on top of the latest science. The most important difference was that Dimitri referred us onto a urologist who discovered an infection that was treatable and improved our chances. The previous fertility consultant completely missed this. He was responsive to emails and frank. He also has a really sunny personality which helps when you're going through something as tough as IVF. Most importantly, we now have a baby on the way! Thank you!

I have known Dr. Dimitrios for more than 6 years, when I first had my IVF treatment at UCLH and it was successful. Over the years, he has demonstrated excellence in his care to me as his patient. I recently underwent IVF treatment at a private clinic and particularly requested for his service, which he accepted with joy.
