Easy short walk from Marylebone Station. Excellent team of professionals. Results are fast and explained in detail by my consultant prior to leaving. Mr Kuhan Rajah was amazing. Would highly recommend if you have any gynaecology issues.
Extremely high quality experience from a group of professionals who understand their patients and how difficult it can be to attend such appointments. 5 🌟 for empathy, discretion and kindness. And a very beautiful clinical environment too!

I recently had a 3D SIS ultrasound with Dr. Kuhan Rajah at The Gynaecology Ultrasound Centre, and I was impressed with the care I received. Dr. Rajah was very professional, kind, and attentive throughout the whole process. He took the time to clearly explain each step of the procedure and made sure I understood what was happening. Although the exam itself can be a bit uncomfortable, his careful and reassuring approach made me feel safe and well looked after. I truly appreciated the way he guided me through it and made the experience as smooth as possible. I felt very secure and supported the entire time.
Highly recommend Dr. Rajah and the centre for anyone looking for excellent care and professionalism.

I had a great experience with my ultrasound consultation with Dr Jurkovic. The ultrasound scan was the most comfortable of all the scans I've had in the past with zero pain and he was calm and patient in taking the time to explain to me what he saw and to answer all my questions. I left feeling reassured and would come again if I had another gynaecological issue. The report with his findings came out quickly the next day. The reception were also very responsive and accommodating of my circumstances as I had to move my appointment a couple of times.

I had a pelvic scan yesterday with Consultant Gynaecologist Mr Joel Naftalin MD MRCOG and I was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. Mr Naftalin was incredibly thorough and professional. He talked me through the scan as it was happening, allowing me to watch the screen and explaining everything in clear, layman's terms.

I cannot speak highly enough of Professor Jurkovic and Mr Naftalin and the exceptional care I have received at the Gynaecology Ultrasound Centre. After 9 years of struggling with pain and other symptoms of endometriosis, I was finally diagnosed by Professor Jurkovic in 2022. I had seen a number of specialists in the past but Professor Jurkovic was the first to take a truly detailed clinical history and ask questions sensitively. This diagnosis changed my life and enabled me to preserve my fertility soon after.

Having experienced pain and discomfort during previous scans, I was naturally apprehensive but every scan I have had with Professor Jurkovic and Mr Naftalin have gone extremely smoothly.

I recently saw Mr Naftalin for a follow up scan in June 2025 and really appreciated his ability to clearly explain the findings in a way that was both thorough and compassionate. He answered all my questions and ensured I left with a complete understanding of the situation.

For anyone requiring gynae scans or treatment, I wholeheartedly recommend both Prof Jurkovic and Mr Naftalin. Their quality of care and compassion is unparalleled.

Incredibly thorough. Found things in 10 minutes that the NHS haven’t managed to find in 10+ years. Very kind and considerate too.
Response from the owner:Thank you very much for leaving us a positive review and I am so pleased that we were able to help you during your visit.
I had a scan yesterday which Professor Jurkovic carried out extremely thoroughly and with detailed explanations. The whole experience gave me great confidence in his diagnosis. He was most professional, considerate and gentle throughout and I am very happy with his recommendations and diagnosis.

Staff were all very friendly and personable. The consultant carrying out the scan was very gentle and talked me through everything, explaining the procedure and discussing the results.

I cannot thank the team enough for the outstanding service I received, particularly from reception staff member Monic and Professor Jurkovic.

Monic went above and beyond to secure me a slot that aligned with my cycle dates—something that was crucial for my ongoing treatment. She didn’t just do her job; she genuinely cared and made me feel supported at a very stressful time. Her empathy and persistence made all the difference.

As someone who has undergone over 100 scans during years of fertility treatment, it was truly remarkable that Professor Jurkovic was the first specialist to accurately diagnose me with endometriosis. His thoroughness and expertise gave me clarity and a much-needed sense of direction moving forward.

Exceptional service, genuine care, and true medical insight—I highly recommend this team.

Have questions?
Is it possible to diagnose ectopic pregnancy on the scan?
Experienced operators are able to detect almost all ectopic pregnancies measuring more than a few millimetres in size on ultrasound scan. It is important to emphasize; however, that ectopic pregnancies tend to develop more slowly than intrauterine pregnancies and it often takes them longer to grow to the size which makes them visible on the scan. Most women with a positive pregnancy test in whom ultrasound cannot identify a pregnancy have either normal pregnancies which are younger than expected from the date of their last period or they have already suffered a miscarriage. A small proportion of these women; however, may develop small ectopic pregnancies. A blood test is usually arranged in these cases to measure the levels of pregnancy hormones in women’s blood. Based on the result of the blood test we can advise women on the likely outcome of their pregnancy and on the need for further follow up.

When can you see the baby’s heartbeat?
The earliest ultrasound can confirm the presence of a heartbeat is two weeks after a missed menstrual period or four weeks after conception. In women who conceive after IVF the heartbeat can be seen four weeks after the day of oocyte collection. Again, in order to avoid coming for the scan too early it is best to delay the attendance until two and a half to three weeks after the missed period or four and a half to five weeks after conception/oocyte collection.

How soon after a missed period can pregnancy be seen on the scan?
A normal intrauterine pregnancy can be first seen on the scan three days after a missed menstrual period. In women who fall pregnant after fertility treatment such as ovarian stimulation the pregnancy can be seen 17 days after ovulation. In women who conceive after IVF the pregnancy can be seen 17 days after the day of oocyte collection. There are, however, small variations in the timing of conception and women who wish to confirm that their pregnancy is located within the uterus are advised to delay their attendance until a week after the missed period (or three weeks after conception) to avoid coming for the scan too early. This is particularly important in women with uterine abnormalities such as fibroids or adenomyosis, which make it harder to see the pregnancy and sometimes the diagnosis may be delayed for several days.

Is it safe to have a scan in early pregnancy?
There is no evidence that ultrasound scans can harm pregnancies. It is important to ensure, however, that the energy of ultrasound beam is kept low. Use of pulsed Doppler devices to measure blood flow should be avoided in the first weeks of pregnancy as their energy output is higher compared to the ultrasound beam used for standard imaging. Our equipment is fully compliant with the international standards for safe use in pregnancy and the machine energy output is continuously monitored during the examination.

Is it possible to detect ovarian cancer on the scan?
Ovarian cancer can be accurately diagnosed on ultrasound scan. The best and most accurate way to diagnose ovarian cancer is by an expert performing a systematic and detailed examination of the tumour and the adjacent structures in the pelvis and abdominal cavity. The advantage of this approach is that it provides the information about the nature of the tumour instantly in the vast majority of cases, without the need of additional blood tests such as CA125 or MRI.

Can you see Fallopian tubes on the scan?
Normal Fallopian tubes are very thin and they cannot be routinely seen on the scan. If the tubes are damaged, they tend to fill with fluid which makes it possible to see them. Tubal patency can be tested using a procedure called HyCoSy which is described in the section on the services we offer to women with concerns about their fertility.
