Ms Naaila Aslam, MD, MRCOG

Ms Naaila Aslam is a full-time Consultant Gynaecologist at University College London Hospital. Her main area of expertise is early pregnancy and gynaecology ultrasound, benign gynaecology and minimal access surgery.

Having graduated from the University of Leeds with a distinction in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1994, she underwent her postgraduate training in London and Bristol. During this time, she completed a two-year research fellowship in early pregnancy and gynaecology ultrasound at King’s College Hospital, London. Her main area of research was the role of gynaecology ultrasound in the assessment of ovarian tumours and she was awarded a research degree (MD) from the University of London in 2006. She has published and presented her work on early pregnancy and gynaecology ultrasound both nationally and internationally.

Following completion of her general training she underwent a one year clinical fellowship at University College London Hospital (UCLH) in advanced minimal access surgery. She was subsequently appointed as a consultant at UCLH in 2006. Since her appointment she has served as Clinical Lead for gynaecology at UCLH.

She regularly manages a wide range of benign gynaecological conditions including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, endometriosis, ovarian cysts and fibroids. In addition, she performs out-patient procedures such as HyCoSy examinations, hysteroscopy and surgical treatment of miscarriages. She regularly performs laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.
