Ms Tejal Amin BSc(Hons), MBBS, MRCOG, MD(Res)
Ms Tejal Amin is a Consultant Gynaecologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Her main areas of expertise are early pregnancy and gynaecological ultrasound, emergency gynaecology and benign gynaecological surgery, including outpatient procedures. She regularly manages a wide range of gynaecological conditions including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain and menopausal symptoms.
Having graduated from University College London in 2006, she completed her post-graduate specialty training in North-west London. During this time, she undertook a three-year clinical research fellowship in advanced gynaecological and early pregnancy ultrasound with Prof. Davor Jurkovic at University College London Hospital. She was awarded an MD (Res) from University of London for her research, which focused on the pelvic venous circulation, pelvic venous thrombosis and pelvic pain. The work from her research has been presented nationally and internationally. Ms Amin has also published research articles on the ultrasound diagnosis of intrauterine adhesions, endometrial pathology and early pregnancy complications. She continues to be actively involved in research, ultrasound education and lectures on postgraduate training courses and conferences.
Prior to her consultant appointment at Imperial NHS Trust, she completed a fellowship in minimal access surgery at the Whittington Hospital and has also worked at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and the Royal Free Hospital. She is able to diagnose and treat many gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts and fibroids. In addition, she performs out-patient procedures such as hysteroscopy to remove polyps or fibroids, and surgical treatment of miscarriages.
